Bread Roll

Bread Roll is a popular, mouthwatering snack. It is a perfect afternoon snack or a proper appetizer. Its crunchiness make us to love this snack as it remains for a long time. In the stuffing you can use carrot or peas along with potatoes. But here I am using only potatoes as the stuffing.

• Bread 8 slices
• Oil for deep frying
• Potatoes 4(medium size)
• Green chillies 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)
• Coriander leaves 3 tablespoons (finely chopped)
• Cashew nuts 2 tablespoons (small pieces)
• Chilli powder 1 ½ teaspoons
• Mango powder 1 teaspoon
• Garam masala ¼ teaspoon
• Salt to taste


Boil the potatoes and mash it

First of all, boil the potatoes in a cooker. It will take some 5-6 minutes. When they are still warm, peel them and coarsely mash them.

Make the Stuffing

Now for the stuffing mix the mashed potatoes with green chillies, coriander leaves, cashew nuts, chilli powder, mango powder, garam masala and salt. Now divide the stuffing into 8 equal portions and form rolls, slight shorter than the length of the bread slices. Set aside.

Make the bread rolls

Then take 2 cups of water and add ½ teaspoon of salt into it and stir well. Now dip one slice of bread in water, remove immediately and press between the palms at once to get rid of the excess water. This process will help to roll the bread. Now place one roll of the stuffing in the centre of this bread slice, bring the two ends together, press and form a smooth roll. Make sure that the stuffing does not come out. Form the remaining rolls in the same manner and set them aside.

Fry the rolls in oil

Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the rolls, four at a time. Flip them and fry on all sides until golden. Drain with a perforated spatula on absorbent paper to get rid of the excess oil.

Instead of frying, you can also bake them

To bake, preheat the oven to 200 C or 392 F and bake them for 12-15 minutes or until they turn golden.

Better serve with tomato sauce or green chutney

Now serve hot along with tomato sauce or green chutney.
