Peas Pulao or Matar Pulao is a very simple and easy pulao recipe. Veg Pulao, Paneer Pulao, Corn Pulao, Chana Pulao are very popular pulao dishes. However, Peas Pulao is also very easy and tasty pulao recipe.

- Basmati rice 1 cup (1 cup = 250ml)
- Fresh peas or matar ½ cup
- Onion 1 (chopped lengthwise)
- Green chilli 2
- Oil/ghee 2 tablespoons
- Shahi jeera 1 teaspoon
- Green cardamom 3
- Cinnamon 1 inch
- Cloves 2
- Bay leaf 1
- Mace 1 single strand
- Salt as needed
- Sugar 1-1 ½ tablespoon
- Water 1 and ½ cups
Wash, soak and drain the basmati rice
Wash the basmati rice till the water runs clear. Then soak it for 30 minutes and after that drain the water and keep the rice aside.
Sauté the whole spices
Heat some ghee in a pressure cooker. When it turns hot, add the shahi jeera, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf and mace and saute till the whole spices release their aroma.
Add the chopped onions, green chilli and peas
After sautéing the whole spices, add the chopped onion and saute it till the turn golden in colour. Then add the peas and fry for 2 minutes.
Add the drained rice and pressure cook it
Now add the drained rice and mix well. Then add water, salt and sugar. Mix properly. Then close the lid and pressure cook for 2 whistles on a high flame. Release the pressure normally.
Fluff up the pulao and serve hot
After releasing the pressure, open the lid, carefully mix the rice and fluff it up. Peas Pulao or Matar Pulao is ready. Serve it hot.
